Your
Real Job
Your real job in giving up
smoking lies in REALLY UNDERSTANDING that you don't
NEED to smoke.
You will
never be truly
free until you realize that smoking is not a real pleasure
and that when you stop, you WILL NOT BE depriving ourselves of a real
pleasure.
When you quit smoking -- the only thing you
will be giving up .......is the
ILLUSION that smoking is an essential pleasure.
Right now, you probably
feel like hitting me if you have tried before to give up and failed.
I know how you are feeling, but
all
I ask you, at this stage is to suspend your disbelief just for a little while - until you
have the opportunity to PROVE this psychology of
non-smoking for yourself.
Isn't that fair enough?
If you have tried before to stop and found it terrible, please bear
with us and give this new psychology of non-smoking a chance.
One writer's view of quitting smoking
Quitting is like losing a
lover. Initially, you don't know how to survive. Smoking is the first
thing you think of when you wake, then there is that terrible sorrow
that it is gone. It pops into your head throughout the day and reminds
you of it's attributes over it's flaws. But after time, you learn to
live without it, to dismiss it from your thoughts. And, eventually,
you wonder what the hell you saw in it in the first place.
One night, someone asked me whether I now hate cigarettes.
"It's not hatred, more indifference," I explained, and
that the best mindset of all.
